Q-layer Introduces the Agile Data Center for Cloud Computing
New Solution Leverages Virtual Private Data Center (VPDC) and Datacenter Abstraction Layer (DAL) to Enable Cloud Computing

Q-layer announced the Q-layer Delegation Manager, a solution that turns virtual server environments into a true cloud computing platform. This release of Delegation Manager provides complete support for VMware Infrastructure 3 environments, including the VMware ESX Hypervisor, with future support for additional Hypervisors including Xen, Sun Microsystems' xVM VirtualBox and Microsoft Hyper-V. The Q-layer Delegation Manager enables fast browser-based provisioning of data center assets for helpdesk, technical end-users and non- technical end-users, with integrated credit-based charge-back capabilities, reporting and easy to use flash-based management controls. Q-layer's Delegation Manager is installed in minutes through the VMware Virtual Center as a Virtual Appliance and builds on Q-layer's VPDC and Datacenter Abstraction Layer (DAL) technology. It enables model-driven orchestration capabilities for data centers, including workflows to cohesively orchestrate virtual servers, networks and storage.

"Q-layer's Virtual Private Data Center concept establishes a new level of flexibility for data center operations," said Mark Bowker, analyst with Enterprise Strategy Group (www.enterprisestrategygroup.com). "With Q-layer Delegation Manager, the company provides enterprises and service providers with a comprehensive computing solution that extends the benefits of virtualization by enabling IT to hand off a pool of resources based on credits and then apply chargeback for usage. Q-layer is establishing itself as an innovator in creating agile data centers for cloud computing."

"PINS is partnering with Q-layer in order to bring a true cloud computing offering to market," said Jan Willem des Tombe, CEO of PINS, a leading Dutch hosting and managed services provider,. "We see a huge market opportunity for cloud computing services, to make data center functionality accessible to all our customers. Q-layer's Virtual Private Data Center concept introduces unprecedented flexibility to our customers, while leveraging our existing data center infrastructure."

The Q-layer Delegation Manager augments existing data center infrastructure including Hypervisors, networks and storage devices. The system provides complete orchestration of these underlying assets to enable data center agility for cloud computing. To facilitate this ecosystem, Q-layer is also working with leading technology partners to create complete virtualization solutions for the next generation data center.

"We are excited to be working with Q-layer to create comprehensive virtualization solutions for the virtualized data center," said Jon Toor, vice president of marketing at Xsigo, the technology leader in data center I/O virtualization (www.xsigo.com). "The combination of Xsigo's leading I/ O Virtualization solutions and Q-layer's VPDC and data center orchestration capabilities will bring incredible new levels of flexibility to data center operators and users."

Cloud computing turns data center infrastructures into an agile services delivery platform. New services such as servers, storage or applications are available on-demand to both technical and non-technical users, with usage- based chargeback. By enabling the Virtual Private Data Center concept, users of Q-layer's Delegation Manager are provided with a portal designed to make cloud computing a reality today.

"With Q-layer's Delegation Manager, end-users can provision and deploy a complete data center within minutes," said Paul Speciale, vice president of product management at Q-layer. "Our technology has been proven in leading data centers, and leverages the capabilities of existing data center infrastructures to provide the most simple and extensible cloud computing solution for data center operators."

The Q-layer Delegation Manager will be generally available in the third quarter of 2008.
