Microsoft has created Microsoft Ventures as a way to unify its sundry venture efforts by housing them under one roof and giving entrepreneurs a single point of engagement.
It describes Microsoft Ventures as broad-based with a holistic approach, featuring a community evangelism program including BizSpark, which will continue to offer access to Microsoft tools and technologies, including Windows, Office, Visual Studio and Azure; an accelerator program; and a seed fund that works with start-ups worldwide.
The accelerator program will be expanded from Bangalore, Beijing, Paris, Seattle and Tel-Aviv to Berlin, Moscow and Rio de Janeiro.
It is also evolving the Bing Fund by adding more funding to support more start-ups including ventures in enterprise software, Big Data, security, artificial intelligence, advertising, gaming, SaaS and cloud services.
